The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced an urgent change of venue for its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting following the unexpected presence of armed police officers around its national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.

Originally scheduled for 10 a.m. at the secretariat, the meeting will now take place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, located in the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory.

“Change of Venue for the PDP Board of Trustees, BoT, meeting. The meeting earlier scheduled to hold by 10 a.m. at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja has been moved to Yar’Adua Center, Central Business District, Abuja,” the PDP stated in an official announcement.

The party also directed all BoT members to proceed to the new location without delay.

Additionally, the PDP condemned the heavy police presence at its headquarters, calling the development disturbing and unjustified. As of the time of reporting, no official reason has been provided for the deployment of security personnel at the premises.

The incident adds to growing tensions surrounding internal party activities and national political dynamics, with stakeholders raising concerns over the increasing securitization of political party affairs.
