Renowned South-South leader and former Federal Commissioner for Information, Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, has passed away at the age of 97. The sad news was confirmed in a statement issued by the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, on Tuesday.
The statement, released by Prof. C. C. Clark on behalf of the family, read: “The Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town, Delta State, wishes to announce the passing of Chief (Dr.) Sen. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, on Monday, 17th February 2025. The family appreciates your prayers at this time. Other details will be announced later by the family.”
Chief Edwin Clark, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and a staunch advocate for the Niger Delta region, served as a Federal Commissioner for Information during the First Republic. He was also a respected elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), where he championed the development and rights of the Niger Delta people.
