Why the Demolition Happened
According to Ibrahim Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, the demolition was carried out following a request from Bayero University Kano, which accused the villagers of encroaching on its land and sought government intervention.
Fatal Consequences
The clash quickly escalated, leading to:
- Three residents losing their lives
- Three Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers sustaining serious injuries and being rushed to the hospital
