In a major political shakeup, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria.

The announcement was made during a high-profile press briefing led by Senator James Manager. Also present at the briefing were former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa—who was the running mate to Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election—and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, along with other prominent PDP leaders.

Senator Manager confirmed that a formal declaration ceremony is scheduled for Monday, following a critical meeting of PDP stakeholders held at the Delta Government House. He emphasized that the move is aimed at advancing the developmental goals of the state.

“This defection is in the best interest of the people of Delta State,” Manager stated. “With this strategic move, the entire PDP structure within the state has been integrated into the APC.”

This dramatic political realignment effectively transforms Delta State into an APC stronghold, potentially altering the dynamics ahead of the next electoral cycle.
