The Yobe State Police Command has assured residents of a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the state.
Speaking after the State Security Council Meeting held on Wednesday in Damaturu, the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, represented by Deputy Commissioner Saleh Sama’il, stated that all security agencies in the state have finalized robust operational plans to protect lives and property during the festive period.
“We’ve discussed all necessary arrangements for the Sallah celebrations extensively. Locations across Damaturu and other communities will be adequately secured,” said Sama’il.
Security Agencies Working in Synergy for Sallah Safety
The meeting, which brought together senior officers from multiple security formations and key stakeholders, focused on coordination and deployment of personnel to ensure a violence-free holiday season.
Mr. Ado assured the public that inter-agency collaboration is strong and that joint patrols and intelligence-sharing efforts will be intensified throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
“Security agencies are fully prepared and on high alert. We want to reassure Yobe citizens that the Sallah celebration will be peaceful and secure,” he emphasized.
Residents Urged to Celebrate Responsibly
The police also urged citizens to observe the festivities within the boundaries of the law, avoid late-night gatherings, and cooperate with security personnel.
“We encourage residents, especially the youth, to celebrate with decorum. Avoid any activities that could lead to a breach of peace,” said Ado.
The commissioner highlighted past challenges associated with overnight celebrations, warning against any acts that might lead to criminal activity.
“In previous years, late-night events have led to crimes in some areas. This year, we are advising all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to collaborate with community leaders to determine safe and reasonable closing hours for all public festivities,” he noted.
Police Reaffirm Commitment to Protect All Communities
Mr. Ado reaffirmed the commitment of the police and other security agencies to provide round-the-clock security coverage and called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
“Our doors are open for communication. Let’s work together to make this Sallah a peaceful and joyous occasion for all,” he concluded.
