The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.

According to a statement released by the Makurdi Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Aondona was taken into custody on Friday, June 20, 2025, following a series of petitions filed by female students who accused the governor’s aide of sexual exploitation and digital harassment.

Allegations of Sexual Abuse and Non-Consensual Recordings

The petitioners claimed that Aondona targeted young, slim, and attractive women, offering them ushering jobs on the condition of engaging in sexual acts with him. These encounters were allegedly recorded without consent, and the women were later blackmailed with threats to leak the videos if they refused to comply with further sexual demands.

The EFCC revealed that some of these explicit videos have already been circulated on various messaging platforms, intensifying the gravity of the case. Victims said they were coerced into continued abuse due to fear of public humiliation and reputational damage.

EFCC Confirms Arrest and Legal Proceedings

The anti-graft agency confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that Dr. Aondona will be charged to court soon for offenses related to sextortion, cyberbullying, and criminal intimidation.

A spokesperson for the EFCC emphasized the agency’s commitment to tackling all forms of cyber-enabled crimes and sexual exploitation, especially those involving individuals in public office.
