Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has unveiled a fuel price refund initiative to compensate customers who purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at rates higher than its officially advertised prices at key partner stations across Nigeria. These partners include AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, and MRS.
Fuel Price Reduction & Refund Initiative
This move follows Dangote Refinery’s recent gantry price reduction from N890 per litre to N825 per litre, reinforcing its commitment to making fuel more affordable for Nigerians.
In alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to boost economic growth and alleviate financial burdens, the refinery emphasized that Nigerians should be the primary beneficiaries of this price cut.
N65/Litre Refund to Marketers
In a statement issued over the weekend, Dangote Refinery confirmed it will refund N65 per litre on over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS previously purchased at the old gantry price of N890 per litre before the adjustment to N825 per litre.
“This initiative, effective February 27, 2025, ensures that none of our valued business partners suffer losses due to the price adjustment. More importantly, it guarantees that the new, lower rate takes immediate effect nationwide for the benefit of the Nigerian people.”
Dangote Refinery has absorbed a N16 billion loss to ensure the price reduction directly benefits consumers at the pump.
Ensuring Fair Pricing & Consumer Protection
The refinery called on all marketers purchasing PMS from it to pass the cost savings onto consumers, ensuring fairness in fuel pricing across the country.
“It is unpatriotic and detrimental to the welfare of Nigerians for any party to purchase PMS at N825 per litre and then sell it for N945 or more. Such excessive profiteering only worsens economic hardship.”
To safeguard consumer interests, Dangote Refinery has urged Nigerians to report cases of overpricing at AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, or MRS stations. Customers who purchase fuel above the advertised rates can claim a full refund for the excess amount by presenting their receipts at Dangote Refinery.
Official PMS Prices at Partner Stations
The approved retail rates for PMS per litre at Dangote’s key partner outlets are:
- MRS: N860 in Lagos, N870 in the South-West, N880 in the North, and N890 in the South-South and South-East.
- Heyden & AP (Ardova Plc): N865 in Lagos, N875 in the South-West, N885 in the North, and N895 in the South-South and South-East.
With the gantry price now set at N825 per litre, Dangote Refinery expects that no Nigerian will pay more than N900 per litre, regardless of location.
