President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has attributed the growing popularity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the administration’s impactful reforms and accomplishments in less than two years in office. Speaking at the APC Renewed Hope Agenda Summit held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that despite the party’s dominance, Nigeria will not become a one-party state.

Tinubu Reassures Nigerians on Democratic Choice

“A one-party system is not ideal for a thriving democracy,” Tinubu stated. “We are a ruling party because Nigerians are seeing results. You don’t expect people to stay on a sinking ship. They want progress, and that’s what we represent.”

He added that citizens have the constitutional right to align with any political association and reassured the public of a healthy democratic environment.

APC Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Re-Election

At the summit, attended by APC governors, National Assembly leadership, and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), a unanimous endorsement was given for President Tinubu to seek a second term in 2027.

  • Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, moved the motion for the endorsement.
  • Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, seconded it.
  • The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, also pledged full legislative support.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje confirmed Tinubu would be the party’s sole presidential candidate for 2027, urging members to unite and avoid internal divisions.

Economic Reforms Delivering Long-Term Gains

President Tinubu highlighted several key reforms as catalysts for renewed national progress, including:

  • Elimination of forex arbitrage, which he called “the grandfather of corruption”
  • Tax reform efforts aimed at revenue stability
  • Promotion of foreign direct investments (FDIs) through a unified exchange rate
  • Anti-corruption measures that have recovered significant public assets

“These were tough but necessary decisions,” Tinubu said. “We could not afford to mortgage our children’s future by delaying reform. Already, we are seeing results — investments are flowing in, jobs are being created, and hope is being restored.”

Renewed Hope Agenda Making an Impact

The summit reviewed the administration’s performance in key sectors, including:

  • Healthcare
  • Infrastructure development
  • National security
  • Economic stabilization

Tinubu commended the Federal Executive Council for their commitment and thanked the National Assembly for aligning with the administration’s reform-driven policies.

Ganduje Calls for Unity and Grassroots Engagement

APC Chairman Ganduje urged party members to strengthen grassroots mobilization and build lasting political structures. “Let us support President Tinubu and deliver the Renewed Hope Nigerians deserve,” he stated.
