The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will release the results of the rescheduled 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Wednesday, targeting 379,000 candidates affected by technical and human errors during the initial test.
Resit UTME Results for 379,997 Candidates Coming Wednesday
JAMB had earlier pledged to reschedule the UTME for 379,997 candidates after acknowledging system glitches that disrupted their original exam sessions. The re-sit exams commenced on May 15, as confirmed by JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, with affected candidates receiving updated exam slips showing new dates, times, and venues.
JAMB Confirms Widespread Technical Errors in 2025 UTME
During a press briefing on May 14, Prof. Oloyede admitted to the existence of technical errors that compromised the fairness and integrity of the initial UTME in several regions. According to him, an internal audit prompted by a high volume of complaints confirmed the scope of the issue.
“The unusual level of complaints prompted an immediate audit of the 2025 UTME, and our findings regrettably confirm that some candidates were impacted by a technical error during result processing,” he said.
Specifically:
- 206,610 candidates in 65 centres were affected in Lagos State
- 173,387 candidates in 92 centres were affected in the South-East region
- Bringing the total to 379,997 candidates impacted

Prof. Oloyede also expressed appreciation to those who voiced concerns, noting that criticism played a key role in uncovering the issues.
“We appreciate our critics for not being indifferent,” he said.
The examination body has reiterated its commitment to transparency, equity, and technical improvements in future examinations.
