Ahead of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s upcoming visit to China, the Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved a proposal by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, to maintain its adherence to the One-China principle.
Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to this policy, recognizing the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing all of China. The Cabinet also reiterated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s longstanding stance on the matter.
This decision highlights the importance of strong diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and China as the two nations prepare for high-level discussions during President Dissanayake’s visit.
