The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Hashimu Argungu, has issued a stern warning to candidates seeking admission into the Police Academy, Kano, against bribing officials. He stated that any candidate caught attempting to pay for admission consideration would face immediate disqualification.
This warning was delivered during Argungu’s visit to the academy to monitor the 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening process.
In a statement released by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, Argungu emphasized the importance of merit and transparency:
“Any candidate negotiating to pay money for consideration should be weeded out. The process must run on merit and transparency.”
He further assured that the commission is committed to ensuring fairness and accountability in the academy’s operations:
“The commission will ensure the academy is run on merit and fairness, with accountability and transparency as its watchwords.”
Argungu expressed satisfaction with the innovative measures introduced to enhance the screening process, particularly the adoption of computer-based testing to ensure efficiency and objectivity.
The PSC chairman’s visit reinforces the commission’s dedication to upholding integrity in police recruitment and fostering public trust in the system.
