Police to Prosecute Native Doctor Who Shot Himself Testing “Bulletproof” Charm

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced plans to prosecute Ismail Usman, a native doctor who accidentally shot himself while testing a self-made “bulletproof” charm.

According to a statement released on Saturday by FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on November 23 in Kuchibuyi Village, Kubwa, Abuja.

Usman reportedly shot himself in the stomach to prove the effectiveness of his charm. The bizarre incident was reported to the police by a local resident, Shandam Michael.

Officers from the Byazhin Police Division promptly arrived at the scene and found Usman critically injured. He was immediately rushed to Kubwa General Hospital and later transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.

A search of Usman’s home revealed a homemade firearm and various charms allegedly used in the experiment.

SP Adeh confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and Usman will be charged with unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide.

FCT Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu strongly condemned the incident, highlighting the dangers of illegal firearm use and irresponsible practices.

“This incident underscores the grave risks associated with reckless behavior. We urge the public to refrain from engaging in such dangerous practices,” Disu stated.

The police continue to caution against the use of unverified traditional practices and emphasize the importance of adhering to the law to ensure public safety.
