The Delta State Police Command has uncovered a shocking case of deception involving a couple, identified as Princess and Prince, who staged a fake kidnapping to extort ₦2,000,000 from Princess’s parents.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe, the incident occurred on December 30, 2024. Princess reportedly visited her boyfriend’s house and orchestrated the plan, instructing Prince to call her parents and demand a ransom.
In a tweet detailing the case, SP Edafe stated, “The girl told her boyfriend to call her parents and claim she had been kidnapped. He did and demanded ₦2,000,000. The girl’s mother, distraught, reported the case to the command, and we immediately swung into action.”
Police investigations quickly uncovered the fraudulent scheme, leaving Princess’s mother in shock upon learning the truth.
“Boom! The mum got the shock of her life. See what children of these days do to their parents,” SP Edafe tweeted, adding crying emojis to highlight the emotional toll.
The suspects are now in police custody, with further investigations underway.
The Delta State Police Command has reaffirmed its dedication to combating criminal activities and urged parents to instill strong moral values in their children to prevent such incidents.
