Nigeria to Host Inaugural Hydrogen Conference to Advance Clean Energy Development

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing hydrogen as a clean energy source, emphasizing its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and drive economic growth.

Ambassador Nicholas Ella, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, shared this during a statement on Thursday, November 21, 2024, underscoring the strategic importance President Bola Tinubu’s administration places on clean energy development.

Hydrogen Conference to Shape Nigeria’s Energy Future

Ella announced that Nigeria will host its first international hydrogen conference at the State House Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja, from November 26 to November 28, 2024. Themed “Building a Hydrogen Economy for Nigeria,” the event aims to attract significant investments in hydrogen technology and infrastructure.

“The conference will unlock the potential of hydrogen to power and build a resilient energy future for Nigeria,” Ella said.

Key Objectives of the Hydrogen Conference

The conference is organized in partnership with the Foundation for Sustainable Social Responsibility in Emerging Africa (FOSSREA). It aims to:

  • Promote hydrogen as a clean energy source.
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
