The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, has arrested 212 suspected drug dealers and secured seven convictions for drug-related offenses within the state from January to June 2025.

This was revealed by the State Commandant, Okechukwu Nkere, during a press briefing held on Thursday in Abakaliki, as part of activities marking the 2025 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Nkere disclosed that the command had seized a total of 91.768 kilograms of cannabis sativa and various psychotropic substances during the period under review. He noted that the arrests included 169 male and 43 female suspects.

In addition, eleven individuals struggling with drug addiction are currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation under the care of the NDLEA in Ebonyi State.

The commandant appealed to the public to remain vigilant and resist peer pressure and societal influences that encourage the abuse of both licit and illicit substances. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to curbing drug abuse and trafficking through enforcement, rehabilitation, and public education.
