Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has expressed concern over reports that some cinemas are allegedly discouraging fans from watching her newly released movie, ThinLine.
The 46-year-old actress took to Instagram on Saturday to share a fan’s complaint. The fan claimed that cinema staff at two different locations had advised against watching ThinLine.
At Festival Mall, the ticket attendant reportedly cited a “bad screen” as the reason, while staff at Maryland Mall claimed the air conditioning in the hall screening ThinLine was faulty. Instead, attendees were encouraged to watch another movie, The Waiter.
Fan Raises Alarm Over Cinema Experiences
Aigbe shared the fan’s message, which read:
*”Good day Ma’am, so I went to watch ThinLine at Festival Mall yesterday afternoon. The ticket attendant ‘advised’ me not to, something about their screen being bad.
“Then I drove from Festival Mall to Maryland Mall, and they also ‘advised’ me not to, saying the AC in that particular cinema was bad and that I should watch The Waiter.
“I went home angry and irritated. Please, if you can relate this information to the people that can do something about it. I just think it doesn’t make sense for two cinemas to have an ‘excuse’ and even advise people against seeing a particular movie.”*
Actor Jamiu Azeez Supports Claims
Actor Jamiu Azeez, a colleague of Mercy Aigbe, corroborated the fan’s experience. He revealed that during a meet-and-greet event at Maryland Mall, cinema staff informed patrons about the malfunctioning air conditioning, which discouraged many from purchasing tickets to ThinLine.
He explained how he intervened:
*”I can testify to the Maryland Mall. The AC in the hall for ThinLine was not working, and the attendants were telling people before getting tickets, which actually discouraged a lot of people.
“I had to start begging people to please help us watch it like that to support this woman who has invested so much in this project.”*
Mercy Aigbe Responds to Feedback
A visibly frustrated Mercy Aigbe shared her thoughts in the Instagram caption:

The actress, a mother of two, also highlighted positive reviews from fans who had watched the film and assured followers that efforts were underway to resolve the issues with the cinemas.
