Late Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, Laid to Rest in Abuja

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), was buried on Friday at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja, marking the end of a distinguished military career spanning several decades.

The solemn ceremony began with a funeral service at the National Christian Centre and concluded with the casket, draped in Nigeria’s green and white flag, being lowered into the earth at 4:41 PM.

The funeral procession arrived at the cemetery around 3 PM in a white funeral wagon. Earlier on Thursday, a service of songs was held at the Army Headquarters Garrison Parade Ground in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, attended by family, friends, and colleagues.

Lagbaja’s body was flown into Abuja from Lagos aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft, arriving at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 12:15 PM.

The late general passed away on November 5 in Lagos at the age of 56. He was remembered for his unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s security and his impactful leadership throughout his career.

Dignitaries, military personnel, and loved ones gathered to pay their final respects, honoring Lagbaja’s service to the nation.
