Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a new lawsuit against suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, over a satirical apology she posted on social media platforms. The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja under case number CS/384/25, is dated May 7, 2025.
According to the court documents, Senator Akpabio is asking the court to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the controversial post from all her social media accounts. He is also demanding a formal written apology to be published in no fewer than two national newspapers, along with an affidavit confirming compliance with the court’s directives.
Akpabio’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Kehinde Ogunwumiju, argues that the satirical post violates a court order issued on April 4, 2025. That order restrains both parties from making public statements regarding ongoing sexual harassment allegations involving the Senate President until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
This latest legal action marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political and legal dispute between the two senators, both of whom have remained in the spotlight over the sensitive case.
The Federal High Court is expected to fix a hearing date in the coming days.
