Ondo Gov Election: Makinde Urges Voters to Let Hunger and Anger Drive Change
Ahead of Saturday’s Ondo State gubernatorial election, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to use the election as a test of their desire for change, emphasizing that their hunger for better governance and frustration with the status quo can lead to meaningful transformation.
In a final appeal to Ondo voters, Makinde stressed the importance of high voter turnout, encouraging the people of Ondo State to take a stand for good governance and show that they are ready to reject the policies of the current administration.
In a statement released Thursday night, titled “It’s Time to Make a Bold Statement,” Makinde called on Ondo citizens to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party that can deliver the much-needed change and economic recovery Nigeria is facing. He argued that the PDP has a proven track record in states it governs, showcasing its ability to bring about development and progress.
“I urge everyone in Ondo State to come out and make a bold statement this Saturday,” said Makinde. “This election is a chance for Nigerians to demonstrate that their hunger and anger can lead to real change. It’s time for Nigerians to rally behind the PDP as the party capable of tackling Nigeria’s economic challenges.”
Makinde further criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that their policies have failed to prioritize the people’s needs. He pointed to the work being done by PDP governors, including his own administration in Oyo State, as evidence of the party’s commitment to improving lives and fostering sustainable development.
“The PDP is the party that can rescue Nigeria,” Makinde declared. “If you’re undecided, look at what PDP-governed states have accomplished. Just yesterday, we presented the Budget of Economic Stabilisation in Oyo State. It’s a people-first budget designed to strengthen infrastructure, boost education, and promote economic progress.”
Makinde concluded by reassuring voters that, economically, better times are ahead if Nigerians continue to make the right decisions and push for a brighter future.
“We look forward to more infrastructure development and economic growth in 2025. The people-first approach of our administration is a clear indicator that we are on the right path,” he said.
